We Went To The Art Gallary - April 12, 1992

Day: April 12, 1992 Sun.  Date:

Friday I forgot to write in this. You know how I said if **** sits by me he likes me for sure and if he didn't that meant he might not like me. Well he didn't sit by me. He couldn't. He was in I.S.S. that day. "Shit!" I know. That day we went to the Art Gallary. My group set off an alarm. It was loud. Also I called a painting a dude. I really do love ****. ____ is really cute. He's also funny. He's only 2 or 3. Don't you think kids are the cutest at that age. Well I do.

"Shit!"  **** gets in trouble a lot! Part of the allure, I'm sure. If I didn't know he had an in-school suspension, I would have bet he's the one who set off the alarm at the gallery. I don't remember which painting I called a dude, but the gallery we visited is the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, aka, "The Art Gallery/Gallory/Gallary." I think we went every year.

Holy crap, this is the girliest thing I've ever written. I actually drew little hearts. Gag.

How could I think this would be boring?

I Scored 6 Points In A Row In Volleyball - April 8, 1992

Day: April 8, 1992 WED.  Date:

Today in P.E. I scored 6 points in a row in volleyball. The thing I can't wait for is on Friday. We have the assembly thing and if **** sits by me, I think that means he likes me. Today and yesterday he's been staring at me longer than usual. Also, today I noticed that **** got to the same number if I was the 6th girl he'd be the 6th boy. If I was the 2nd he'd be second. I'll be crushed if he doesn't sit by me on Friday. I gave the 4 square team to ____ today. That's it. Audra S age 10, 5th grade

Not that you could tell by reading this diary, but four square was a big part of my elementary school life. Obviously, I loved volleyball, too, but that was only played in gym class. Four square was my game at recess. You might be wondering how you have a team in four square. It's not a team sport, but three other kids and myself formed an alliance. We would play really hard to get all four of us in the game and then we'd hit the ball really gently to each other for the remainder of recess to prevent any other kids from getting a chance to play. On our playground, overhand was outlawed. It was all underhand, all the time. The server could choose to allow bus stops, bubbles, shoe shiners and a host of other four square moves. If you're reading this and have no idea what I'm talking about, all I can say is I'm sorry. You missed out on a great game. I must have been some kind of four square royalty since I was in the position to "give" the team to someone.

Four square: world's greatest playground game

15 Good Things About Him - April 7, 1992

Day: April 7, 1992 TUES.  Date:

Today I did my regular stare and I flurted with him as usual. His eyes are so amazing I don't know how to explain it. Here is 15 good things about ****. 1. he's cute 2. he's funny 3. he's sincere 4. he's sweet 5. he's nice 6. he's popular 7. he's got a great personality 8. he's athletic 9. he has brown hair 10. he has cool clothes 11. he does his hair neat 12. he has alot of talent 13. he never says anything mean to me 14. he defends me alot. 15 he looks like he's a good kisser! Alot of people ask me why I won't go with ****. I will but he has to ask me. I hope he does! I know ____ is going with ____ so she won't be going with ****. I want to marry ****! Or at least kiss him. He's free I think. Well I have no more to say so I guess I'm finished.

Making lists is fun. Especially about the people you love/want to marry/or at least kiss. In fact, I make my husband play the list game all the time. As he's drifting to sleep I will say, "James, tell me 15 things you love about me. Go!" He will get through a couple and then remind me that he has to get up early to go to work blah blah blah.

Even though he had "alot of talent," I'm 100% certain that **** would not have been able to come up with 15 good things about me. Unless of course he copied the assignment from my diary.

There Is One Thing I Have To Admit - April 6, 1992

Day: April 6, 1992 Mon.  Date:

There is one thing I have to admit. I do flirt with ****. Today he was flurting with me. In the library I had my feet dangling down from the loft. **** went under the loft and grabbed my foot. ____ asked me why I won't go with ____. I just didn't answer. What I wanted to say was because he's never asked me. I found out something. **** was sikking ____ out. That's good.

Audra S age 10

Sikking = psyching.

I know it's a little difficult to follow all the story lines since I  blank out the other kids' names. The thing I found out was that was such a relief was that **** was being a douchenozzle to that other girl a couple days ago and didn't really want to go out with her. What a guy!

Like most of the kids at my school, I loved that loft in the library. It was a cool place to read a book. You had to climb a ladder to get up there and you hoped you were early enough to snag one of the bean bag chairs. Here's a picture of the loft from the yearbook. It's the wooden thing in the upper right part of the photo.

I Might Ask Him If He'd Go With Me - April 3, 1992

Day: April 3, 1992, Fri.  Date:

Today was like any other day. I gave **** my usual stare. One thing weird happened though. **** asked ____ to go with him. I think he was joking. I hope he is. I also hope **** goes to the basketball courts tomorrow. I want to ask him if he was kidding or not. If he was, I might ask him if he'd go with me.

Audra S age 10 5th grade

**** seemed to go with just about everybody in our class except for me. What did I see in this kid? Maybe soon little Audra will get over this very deep crush and write about something more interesting.

Something like an animated childrens film starring an Elvis-impersonating rooster.

Released on April 3, 1992.

Today We Got A New Kid - April 2, 1992

Day: April 2, 1992 THURS  Date:

Today we got a new kid. He's ugly, and he has 4 earrings! Well I gave **** my usual stare. Today he stared at me more than usual. I think that means he likes me. At the club, ____ was there. He asked me to go with him. I don't know why!

Audra S age 10
5th grade

Whoawhoawhoa. I do not remember some other kid ever asking me to go with him. Nobody ever asked me out. Probably because they thought I was that crazy girl who stared too much. I'm looking at this kid's name in my diary and I have no clue who he is. Nobody at my school, in my grade (plus or minus one), had that name. I should hire a detective to figure out who this mystery boy is.

I typed "mystery boy" into youtube to see what I'd get. "Mystery boy timbaland" was second in the auto-fill list. And this is what it brought up. People seriously misheard the lyric that way? That's funny. I love this song. I bet little Audge would have loved it, too. This one is dedicated to ****, the ugly new kid, ____, and my husband.
